Privacy Notice

At Anchor SMS, your privacy is paramount. This Privacy Notice outlines how we handle your information when you use our service.

Information We Collect

We primarily collect account information (e.g., email address) to operate and improve the service. Depending on features you use, additional information may be processed by integrated providers (e.g., payment, analytics) under their own policies.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information for account management, security, service communications, and—if you opt in—product updates or marketing. We do not use your data to train our models unless explicitly stated and consented.

Data Handling and Storage

We aim to retain only what is necessary to provide the service. Certain interactions may be processed transiently and not retained beyond operational needs. Where third parties are involved, they may retain data per their policies.

Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we process. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

Third-Party Services

We may use third-party services (e.g., payments, analytics, communications). These third parties have their own privacy policies governing the use of information they collect. We encourage you to review their policies.

Categories of data we process for SMS

  • Account data (name, email), workspace/user roles, assigned phone numbers.
  • Messaging data: message content (body), metadata (to/from, timestamps, status, provider SIDs), and webhook payloads from providers.
  • Operational logs related to deliverability, abuse prevention, and billing.

Lawful bases

We rely on the following lawful bases under UK/EU data protection law: (i) Contract (to provide the service), (ii) Legitimate interests (to secure, operate, and improve the service; prevent abuse/fraud), (iii) Legal obligations (e.g., tax/accounting), and (iv) Consent where required (e.g., marketing communications or certain regional messaging rules).

Retention

We retain limited message metadata (to/from, timestamps, delivery status, provider SIDs) for up to 12 months, and message content for up to 90 days by default, for operability and troubleshooting. You may request shorter retention where permitted. Accounting/charge records may be retained longer to satisfy legal obligations.

Sharing and subprocessors

We use telecom and infrastructure providers to deliver the service. This includes messaging providers (e.g., Twilio, Infobip) and cloud/hosting vendors. Mobile carriers and their partners also process messages to complete delivery. We share only what is necessary to operate the service.

International transfers

Where data is transferred outside the UK/EEA, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., SCCs) and ensure recipients provide adequate protection for personal data.

Messaging opt-out and help

Standard keywords such as STOP/UNSUBSCRIBE and HELP are supported where applicable by carriers. If you receive an unwanted message, reply with STOP (where supported) or contact us at legal@anchor-sms.app.

Children

The service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly process their personal data.

Complaints

You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. In the UK, this is the ICO (https://ico.org.uk/).

Your Rights

You may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. To exercise these rights, please contact us atlegal@anchor-sms.app.

Changes to This Notice

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new notice on this page.
